One of the oldest art projects in town. Started as Ausstellungsraum Schmidl & Haas by Martin Schmidl and Florian Haas in 1992.

Renamed Finger with publication of magazine Finger in 1999. Roughly till 2002.

Competition "Evolutionäre Zellen - Wie gestalten Sie Ihre Gesellschaft?" (How do you shape your society?) in 2002 and 2004.

Projects with beekeeping (Stadtimkerei) since 2007.

Finger und die Stadtimkerei wurden Ende März 2012 geschlossen, nachdem die Städelschule (als Hauptmieterin) die Rückgabe des Raumes verlangt hatte.
